SONAR for Sales (Global Sales Enablement Series)

When I first joined the team, I was asked to solve a major problem: new product introduction enablement.

Palo Alto Networks rapidly releases new products and services and enabling sellers at pace was painful. Sellers are hit with marketing slides too vague to provide substance or overly technical explanations they can’t comprehend.

So, I made SONAR for Sales, which is basically a YouTube channel for product introduction.

Instead of the traditional 20+ minute “PM walks through a deck” format, each episode uses tighter scripting, more engaging editing and visuals, pop culture references, and higher production value to make new product education clearer and easier for sellers to understand. And they’re only about 5 minutes.

Before I can explain a product to sellers, I have to learn it myself first. I rely on 2 things:

  1. My background as a cybersecurity technical documentation writer

  2. AI

Writing release notes and software procedures about deeply technical subjects taught me how to sit with the unfamiliar, ask better questions, learn, and turn expert knowledge into something clear and actionable.

Today, tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude help me ramp faster. They help me test my understanding, give alternate perspectives, and most importantly, allow more time to do the important stuff like finding the right metaphor and the clearest path for the learner.

This one includes lots of AI-generated footage, but it also enabled the Fantastic Four themed VFX.

When Google Flow reached its limitations of imbuing me with Marvel powers, I had to do it the old-fashioned way in After Effects. BUT, AI still had a hand—when I couldn’t find the right YouTube tutorial or VFX breakdown IG reel, I asked Gemini for specific steps and troubleshooting. It felt like having a seasoned VFX artist at my side which is what made this fun idea possible.
